How To Remove Live Feed on FaceBook

FaceBook users go wild as more and more begin to hate and be confused by the new ‘Live Feed’.

Hello! My name is Gray Adams and I am a self-taught web-developer. I work mostly in WordPress, CSS, and PHP and enjoy blogging. I have two YouTube accounts one dedicated to tutorials while the other comedy. If you find my posts at all interesting and you want to know when a new one comes out, feel free to subscribe via RSS or Email.

In October 2009, FaceBook released a design upgrade which included remodeling of Pages/Groups and the all too famous News Feed.

FaceBook users join in one of the many famous group protests to get rid of this non-userfriendly interface which seems to be driving everyone up the wall. The new News Feed, known best as the ‘Live Feed’ continuously updates the feed without the need to refresh and without the need to click on a link to expand the new posts since you loaded the page. This becomes a hassle when you don’t want new updates repeatedly, and you may just want to keep the page organized. It would not of been such a big deal if FaceBook had not remodeled the actual updates that appear. Now we have to see who’s friends with who along with the number of people that are friends with the person. This includes Groups, Pages, or anything that you could possibly join/friend/like.

Another downside is when you post something and it gets almost immediatly bumped down the page. Sadly, there is no real fix the problem, and the only main fix is a hassle and still is a general live feed.

Here is somewhat of a way to get rid of the confusing layout:

  1. Go to your Facebook home page
  2. On the Feed sidebar, click the More link
  3. Drag your prefered Feed (if you do not have one, create one and add the people you want in it) up to the very top of the list
  4. Click again

Now you have your prefered feed as your default feed.

Negatives

  • Still remains a ‘Live Feed’
  • Still has the new status messages

Positives

  • Does not show News Feed link at top with a number count next to it
  • Does not look as cluttered
